Rangers’ Scott Feldman’s contract extension ‘long overdue’
The Rangers have extended Scott Feldman to a two-year deal worth $5.8 million.
The deal, which also includes incentives, comes a week after the team announced it had acquired free-agent defenseman Alexei Emelin.
Feldman is a veteran of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and Atlanta Thrashers, and he had six goals and 20 assists in 57 games for the Rangers this season.
Feldman signed a four-year, $26.8-million contract in March of last year.
He had seven goals and 25 assists in 75 games in 2016-17, and eight goals and 21 assists in 77 games in 2017-18.
The Rangers will be looking for some scoring depth on defense.
The club signed defenseman Mike Green and signed defenseman Adam McQuaid to an AHL deal on Thursday.
They also signed defenseman Michael Dal Colle and defenseman Matt Fraser to NHL contracts.
